Can a Staff Account See Other Staff Members' Bookings?

Last updated: 2026-08-15

This is a common misconception among owners: it's easy to assume that logging in as a staff member only shows that person's own bookings, but that isn't how it works.

Example: Say a staff member at a hair salon, Staff A, logs into the admin screen and opens the booking calendar. Not only their own assigned bookings show up — bookings assigned to other staff members, B and C, appear as well. An owner might be alarmed, wondering why A can see B and C's customer details, but this isn't a bug — it's intentional behaviour. However, if A clicks on a booking assigned to B and tries to reschedule or cancel it, the edit is blocked with a permissions notice at that point. In other words, A can always "view" the full salon schedule, but can never "edit" a booking that isn't assigned to them.

  • View permission: Seeing every booking across the whole salon on the calendar or booking list screen is intentional behaviour for every role, STAFF included. Staff need to see their own day's schedule in the context of everyone else's, so full visibility is by design.
  • Edit permission: Actually changing booking data — editing details, rescheduling — works differently. The permission to modify a booking assigned to someone else (bookings.manageAny) is limited to OWNER and MANAGER. STAFF only has permission to modify their own assigned bookings (bookings.actOwn), so they can see other staff members' bookings but can't touch them.

To sum up: it isn't true that each staff member gets a separate calendar showing only their own bookings. Every staff member can view the full salon calendar; they simply can't edit bookings assigned to someone else. If you need to hide certain staff members' booking details from other staff entirely, that isn't something the current permission structure supports.
